Robul nu este mai mare decât domnul său

Ioan 13:12-17

Este o seară specială, în care ne amintim de evenimentul despre care Isus a zis: ”Am dorit mult să mănânc Paștele acestea cu voi înainte de patima Mea.” Din cuvintele lui Isus vedem că Cina din seara de joi a avut o importanță deosebită atât pentru El, cât și pentru ucenicii Săi. Fără ca să pierdem din vedere Cina Domnului, aș vrea să ne uităm la un alt eveniment care a avut loc în aceeași seară și căruia Isus i-a acordat, de asemenea, o mare importanță.

Evanghelistul Ioan ne spune că Isus s-a sculat de la masă în timpul Cinei și le-a spălat picioarele ucenicilor. Imediat după ce-a făcut acest lucru, Isus i-a întrebt pe ucenici: ”Înțelegeți voi ce v-am făcut Eu?” De-a lungul istoriei, creștinismul a fost împovărat cu o mulțime de tradiții și datine pe care cei mai mulți nu le cunosc și nici nu le înțeleg. Iată de ce mi se pare foarte importantă această întrebare a lui Isus. (more…)

Education against violence at school

I, too, thank the rapporteur for a very good report. Despite the extent and complexity of the problem of violence at school, the report provides a good analysis of it. Although the recommendation may not identify the most efficient ways of dealing with the problem, the attempt to find the best solutions deserves our full appreciation.

I would like to comment on three key factors mentioned in the report that may affect violent behavior. The first factor is the family. I was glad to find in the report this statement: “Despite the changes in the modern world, it is parents who play the key role in a child’s education.” Strong and healthy families have been and will remain the key factor in a peaceful and harmonious society. We cannot ignore that too many families across Europe face huge pressures and challenges today. Therefore, we need to call on the member states to develop and adopt policies that are meant to support the well-being of families. (more…)
